- The ultimate responsibility and authority for OA world services reside in the collective conscience of our entire Brotherhood.
- The OA groups have delegated to the World Service Work Conference the active maintenance of our world services; therefore, the World Service Business Conference is the effective voice, authority and conscience of OA as a whole.
- The right of decision, based on trust, makes effective leadership possible.
- The right to participate guarantees equal opportunities for all in the decision-making process.
- People have the right of appeal and petition in order to guarantee that their opinions and personal complaints are carefully considered.
- The World Service Work Conference has entrusted the Board of Trustees with primary responsibility for the administration of Compulsive Eaters Anonymous (OA).
- The Board of Trustees has legal rights and responsibilities granted by the Statutes of OA, Subpart A; The rights and responsibilities of the World Service Labor Conference are granted by Tradition and OA Bylaws, Subpart B.
- The Board of Trustees has delegated to its Executive Committee the responsibility of administering the OA World Service Office.
- Trained and loyal servants, along with the appropriate and sensible methods of choosing them, are indispensable for the effective operation of all levels of service.
- Service responsibility is balanced by a carefully defined service authority; therefore, duplication of efforts is avoided.
- Trustees’ administration of the World Service Office should always be supported by committees, executives, staff, and advisers of the highest reputation.
- The spiritual foundation for OA service guarantees that:
- (a) No OA committee or service body should ever be the seat of dangerous wealth or power;
- (b) Sufficient operating funds, plus a large reserve, will be OA’s prudent economic principle;
- (c) No member of OA shall ever be placed in a position of authority for which he or she is not qualified;
- (d) All important decisions will be reached through debate, vote and, whenever possible, by substantial unanimity;
- (e) No action of service shall be personally punished or incitement to public controversy; Y
- (f) No service committee or service board of OA will ever perform acts of government and all will always be democratic in democratic thought and action.
