- We admitted that we were powerless over food, that our lives had become unmanageable.
- Came to believe that only a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
- We decided to put our will and our lives in the care of God as we conceive him.
- Without any fear we took a moral inventory of ourselves.
- We admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our faults.
- We were completely willing to let God remove these character flaws.
- We humbly ask Him to free us from our shortcomings.
- We made a list of all those people we had offended and were willing to repair the damage we caused them.
- We make direct reparations to as many as possible for the damage we have caused them, except in those cases in which doing so would harm themselves or others.
- We continued to do our personal inventory and when we were wrong we would admit it immediately.
- We seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we conceive Him, asking only to let us know his will for us and give us the strength to carry it out.
- Having experienced a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to binge eaters and to practice these principles in all our actions.
